Quite often it is hard to know what it will be like to work somewhere else; a town, the people, the upside and the downside. You can ask others, research, imagine or even dream!  However, the best way is to meet the people, experience the warmth and the genuineness that this part of New Zealand has to offer.

Based in Taupo, central North Island, this opportunity offers a lifestyle that brings work and pleasure together. As an experienced solicitor, you will step into a vibrant and well-respected practice in the commercial, property, trust, agri-business and private client space. This is a busy practice and so there is a strong work flow and plenty of it, with scope and support to develop and build your own practice further, involving yourself in the business community.  The clients are a mix of private clients through to business owners (SMEs) as well as developers and Trusts.  The firm has sound practices and procedures in place and the culture and atmosphere is best described as supportive, flexible and family-focussed. The people here are genuine and down-to-earth – they take a very professional approach in everything they do but still manage to be able to have a bit of fun in the process!

Working alongside two partners, your work will be a broad range of property and commercial related work including residential conveyancing, business sale and purchase, commercial leasing, trusts and asset protection.

Ideally, you will be an experienced solicitor with exposure to one or more of the following practice areas: property, commercial and/or trust law.  Because the role requires someone who is able to work fairly autonomously, you will have gained a good level of experience already with most likely, 4+ years’ PQE (and you might be much more senior). You might have some clients to bring with you or you might not – our client is very open as to what stage you are at in your career.  There is definitely a pathway to partnership in the future for the right person, if that is indeed what you are looking for.

The firm can offer a supportive environment and team, where you can really be 'part of the firm's fabric'.  Strong relationships and personal service are fundamental to the way in which law is practiced here so you will feel right at home.

So if you’re looking for a real lifestyle change (in amazing offices with a view out to the lake and mountain!); or a chance to get back to your roots and build a satisfying career in law and a life well worth living, then this could be the right opportunity for you.
