The Takeovers Panel is a Crown entity that regulates takeovers and enforces the Takeovers Code with the aim of facilitating a fair, open and efficient takeovers market in New Zealand.
The Takeovers Panel wishes to appoint a General Counsel to lead and mentor its legal team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, collegial and team-spirited leader. You will have significant post-admission experience, ideally with a mix of corporate, regulatory and public law experience. Outstanding solicitors with alternative backgrounds may be considered.
You will be responsible for advising the Panel on all legal and policy matters. You will supervise the Panel’s legal staff on matters including enforcement of the Code, exemptions from the Code and review and reform of the law and practice of takeovers. You will mentor the legal staff to support their professional development.
Your written legal analysis is outstanding. You enjoy solving complex problems and can adapt your thinking to completely different issues with each new file. You are a strong communicator who will be comfortable meeting with high-profile industry stakeholders and with the members of the Panel.
